My Reflections

Tour Day 978. Lasts

When we look back

Recalling life’s dreams

Do we rest easy

Or imagine our screams?

❤️

Life likely did not follow

A path higher and lighter

Our need to control and know

Made us much like a fighter.

❤️

We strove, we clawed to

Reach our highest Mountain View

Yet no matter how hard we tried

Was meaningless without You.

❤️

Yesterday is just a memory

Can do little to change

Our stories are uniquely ours

No matter how strange.

❤️

Each one informs us

As we enter a fresh, new day

We honor, learn, remember

Perhaps choosing a new Way.

❤️

Worn paths do not determine

These not our destiny

As we trust and surrender

Counting our days as brevity.

❤️

This moment, this day

Let me release all my plans

Instead let me be present

No matter the demands.

❤️

A life well lived is not

Just how we lived in the past

It is how we spend this day

A word, a hug, a noticing that

Lasts.

❤️

A poem about not taking life for granted.
